Hancode / Posit

Privacy policy

Updated October 4, 2026

Hancode (“the Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Posit. This notice explains the current service and how information is handled.

For privacy, support, deletion, or abuse requests, contact the.hancode1@gmail.com.

The service today

Public Windows and Linux downloads are coming soon. Posit currently stores notes locally; accounts, Google sign-in, and cross-device cloud sync are planned and are not available yet.

Information and storage

The current desktop app stores notes as JSON in the operating system’s application-data directory. It does not currently upload your notes to a Posit account or cloud-sync service.

You can edit or delete notes in the app. Local note files and any copies you make remain on your devices. Contact us for help locating your data.

This website receives normal delivery and usage information through its hosting provider. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. Future cloud-account features will have updated disclosures before they collect content.

How we use information

We use information to provide the features you choose, respond to support requests, maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve performance and usability. Usage and error analytics must exclude the contents of your notes, tasks, and diagrams.

We do not sell personal information, use advertising tracking, or use your content to train AI models. We do not send your content to AI providers.

Essential account and security messages may be sent when necessary. Product announcements and newsletters require your opt-in, and you can unsubscribe from optional messages.

Private content and access

Content is not publicly shared by default. Public sharing links and shared task lists are not currently offered. Anyone you give access to your account or device may be able to read, change, export, or delete its content.

Where content is held on our servers, authorized administrative access is limited to what is reasonably necessary for support, security, maintenance, or legal obligations. Private storage does not mean end-to-end encryption or that the operator cannot access server-held content.

Website delivery and service providers

Cloudflare delivers these websites and may process request information such as IP addresses, browser details, requested URLs, and request times. Where Cloudflare web analytics is enabled, it measures website usage and performance; it is not permission to collect note, task, or diagram contents.

For products with enabled account services, Hancode operates backend storage on DigitalOcean infrastructure. Email services may process the recipient address and message needed to deliver account communications. Contact us for information about the providers and processing locations relevant to your request.

Providers and infrastructure may process information outside your country. Applicable legal safeguards are required where international-transfer rules apply. We may disclose information where legally required or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to rights and safety, limited to the relevant purpose.

Offline copies and security

Offline functionality may retain content and session information on your devices. Changes made offline cannot reach another device until they synchronize. Protect access to shared devices and keep independent copies of important content.

We apply reasonable security measures appropriate to the service. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure. We do not claim end-to-end encryption.

Retention and deletion

Posit notes remain in your local application data until you remove them. Uninstalling the application may leave that data behind. Any exports, device backups, or copies you create remain under your control.

For information you send to Hancode, such as support emails, we retain it as needed to respond, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Contact us to request deletion. There is currently no Posit cloud account or server-held note library to delete.

Cloud account deletion and backup retention will be described before cloud sync launches. The intended 30-day active-system and 90-day encrypted-backup deletion targets apply to that planned service, not the current local-only app.

Your choices and rights

Use the available product controls to export or delete content. For assistance accessing, correcting, exporting, or deleting information, email the.hancode1@gmail.com. You do not need to wait for an in-app account deletion feature to make a privacy request.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correction, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, and a complaint to a data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully performed.

Where a legal basis is required, core services rely on performance of our agreement with you; proportionate security and service improvement rely on legitimate interests; optional activities rely on consent where required; and compliance activities rely on legal obligations. We do not use your content for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

Adults only

Users must be at least 18 years old to create or use an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information and terminate the account.

Changes and contact

We will update this notice when the service or its data practices change, provide appropriate notice of material changes, and obtain consent where required. Future advertising, sharing, or AI features are not authorized by a general acceptance of this notice.
